Stanley Cup Odds: Bruins hit second round atop list

With a first-round victory in the books and their opponent set for the second round of the NHL postseason the Boston Bruins continue to hold down the top of the odds to win the Stanley Cup at the sportsbooks.

After knocking out the Detroit Red Wings in five games in the first round of the playoffs the Bruins sit as the 5/2 favorites on the latest Stanley Cup odds at Bodog. Boston gave up just six goals in those five games against Detroit, winning Game 5 by a 4-2 score on Saturday afternoon.

Boston moves on to play the rival Montreal Canadiens in the second round of the playoffs, with the Habs having dispatched the Tampa Bay Lightning in just four games in the first round of NHL playoff betting action. The Canadiens sit at 7/1 on the latest odds to win the Stanley Cup on the Bodog NHL futures board.

Entering play on Sunday the Chicago Blackhawks were second at 11/2 on those odds to win the Stanley Cup at Bodog, with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the San Jose Sharks both at 7/1, and the Anaheim Ducks listed at 15/2.

The Colorado Avalanche, who hold down a 3-2 lead on the Minnesota Wild in their first-round playoff series heading into Game 6 on Monday night, were then at 12/1 on those Stanley Cup odds at Bodog, with the Wild back at 50/1 odds.

The rest of the odds to win the Stanley Cup at the sportsbook early on Sunday were then the St. Louis Blues at 16/1, the New York Rangers at 18/1, the Philadelphia Flyers at 22/1, the Los Angeles Kings at 40/1, and the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Dallas Stars at 66/1.

Along with Colorado at Minnesota the other two NHL playoff matchups on Monday are Pittsburgh at Columbus and San Jose at Los Angeles, with the Penguins and Sharks holding down 3-2 series leads heading into those Game 6 matchups.

The first round of the playoffs then wraps up on Tuesday and Wednesday as required, with the Rangers at Philadelphia, Chicago at St. Louis, and Dallas at Anaheim the potential Tuesday games, and Philadelphia at the Rangers, Columbus at Pittsburgh, Minnesota at Colorado, and Los Angeles at San Jose if needed on Wednesday.
