With NHL players finally emerging from their extended Olympic break it’s the St. Louis Blues that find themselves the new leaders on the Stanley Cup odds at the online sportsbooks, ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Blues will begin their post-Olympic schedule with a record of 39-12-6 and tied with the Blackhawks atop the Central Division standings (with three games in hand). That has the Blues listed as the 11/2 favorites on the updated Stanley Cup odds at Bodog.
The Blackhawks, at 35-11-14 on the season, are then tied with the Penguins (40-15-3) at 6/1 on those odds to win the Stanley Cup, with the Anaheim Ducks just a step back of those top favorites at 7/1. Anaheim collected the most points in the league (87) prior to the Olympic break, going 41-14-5.
The Boston Bruins (8/1) and San Jose Sharks (10/1) then round out the top tier of contenders on the Stanley Cup odds at Bodog, with the Los Angeles Kings at 18/1, and both the New York Rangers and the Toronto Maple Leafs at 20/1. The Maple Leafs went 7-2-1 in their last 10 games to sit at 32-22-6 on the season.
The Colorado Avalanche and Philadelphia Flyers both hold down a line of 22/1 on the updated odds to win the Stanley Cup, with the Tampa Bay Lightning at 25/1, and the Montreal Canadiens at 33/1. The Canadiens entered the Olympic break on a three-game winning streak that had them at 32-21-6 on the season.
The Detroit Red Wings, Columbus Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild, Washington Capitals, and Vancouver Canucks are all at 40/1 on the Stanley Cup odds at Bodog, with the Carolina Hurricanes, New Jersey Devils, Phoenix Coyotes, and Ottawa Senators at 50/1.
From there it’s the Dallas Stars at 75/1 on the Stanley Cup odds, with the Winnipeg Jets at 100/1, the Nashville Predators at 200/1, the New York Islanders at 300/1, and the Florida Panthers big longshots at 500/1.
