Tied 1-1 after the first two games of their second-round playoff series, the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins are the co-favorites on the latest Stanley Cup odds at online sportsbook Bodog.
Heading into Monday night’s Game 3 both the Capitals and the Penguins are listed at +375 to take home the Stanley Cup. Washington got the series started with an overtime victory in Game 1, but Pittsburgh struck back in Game 2 with a win to tie the series.
The two teams may be equal on the Stanley Cup futures, but the series odds are currently favoring the Penguins at -130. Washington is a +110 underdog.
The Capitals and Penguins aren’t huge favorites though. Two more teams, the Dallas Stars and the San Jose Sharks, are right behind them, both at +400. Dallas is also tied 1-1 in its series with the St. Louis Blues, while San Jose has a 2-0 series lead in the second round versus the Nashville Predators.
It is interesting that Dallas at +400 is currently ahead of its second-round opponent, the Blues, who are listed at +425. What makes that interesting is that if you look at the series odds at Bodog you’ll find the Blues favored at -140 and Dallas as a +120 underdog.
If you’re looking for the Bodog longshots you’ll find them in the Tampa Bay Lightning vs. New York Islanders series. That series is also tied 1-1, but even though one of them has to advance the oddsmakers don’t expect either to go much farther beyond that point.
The Lightning are getting slightly better odds at +1100, while the Islanders are a +1200 underdog. In the series the Lightning are also favored at -125.
The big underdogs on the odds list are the Nashville Predators at +3300. The Predators trail the Sharks 2-0 in their series and could be headed for a quick exit if they can’t turn things around when the series heads to Nashville this week.
